All Quiet on the Eastern Frontier
(w&m Mickey Wynne)
Theres a little village not an hours drive from this city
Here lives a man who
became a local hero in the town
Just a while ago he saw eleven guys getting down to the nitty gritty
He got a gun and he killed those men dead, shot em down.
A little farther up the road you find a castle where a man plays the chung,
He got his own private army for protection hes the leader of a big tribe,
Confidentiality out here means you cut the guard’s tongue,
That way they get the honour and they never get a chance to talk about a bribe.
The Jungles have the beast, and the rivers keep running to the sea,
If you see a human life come and go you never bat an eye.
Cos' the people got to make a living any way they can, it’s a natural thing to survive
All quiet on the Eastern Frontier
All quiet on the eastern Frontier
Not a soul believes in anything else out here
All quiet on the Eastern Frontier,
All quiet, All quiet.
At the edge of the desert there’s a forest lookin’ innocent outside,
But go within and there’s the highwaymen, knights of the road living there
In their homes they cohabit with the kidnap victims caught on a ride,
What they get from the ransom is enough to cover all the taxi fare
Back in the big city cars trucks and qudagharis are a jammin on the road
At the lights where the traffic slows you find the beggars with their outstretched hand
Any driver with a conscience would hand over cash just to ease their load
But chain they’re at the bottom of the driver, if he knew, wouldn’t readily finance,
The jungles have the beasts etc.
A farmer’s lookin at the sky and wonder if the harvest’s gonna be a good one,
That little poppy there growin in the field’s worth a lotta dollars
Loyalty out here means you give the kids enough to get the hooks in,
You find the right man you make enough to keep your family livin' for a long time
But you know that anyway, because they told you anyway, because they bought you anyway
The jungles have the beasts etc.
